A Simple Song-My new e-book ready for download

A Simple Song by Letitia P. Blount

Blurb:
Jaeda Pontes has been there, done that when it comes to dealing with her husband Derrick's infidelity issues. To cope, she develops the habit of marrying songs to Derrick's indiscretions which only aids in bringing back the memories she doesn't want to deal with. After Derrick's latest creep, Jaeda has a hard time forgiving him and wonders if she ever can, but an expected surprise forces her to make a major decision. Will she make the right one for all involved? It took a simple song to mark the painful event in Jaeda's life. Will it take a simple song to save or end her marriage?
Excerpt:
The lapse of conversation continued until we arrived in front of our house. Before Derrick could get out of the car to open the door for me, I got out and ran up the stairs. It slowly dawned on me that I hadn’t brought my keys. I stood there with a vicious attitude, waiting for Derrick to open the door.Derrick walked up the stairs with a smirk on his face. “See, fast ass, you are always in a rush,” he said. I rolled my eyes and sucked my teeth.

I pushed past him, removed my coat, and threw it on the coat rack next to the front door. It toppled over to the floor.
I ran upstairs and slammed the bedroom door, then lay on the flowered comforter as my tears soaked my cheeks and my pillow. I kicked my heavy black boots off my feet. They thumped on the floor. Grabbing my pillow, I put it over my face and screamed into it.
How could I make him understand? He hadn’t experienced the crushing feelings of deceit, the loss of trust, and the thoughts of someone making love or having sex with someone you love with every part of your being. How the oath of marriage is destroyed because the person I love didn’t care enough about me to think if I were to find out how it would devastate me. It pulled the rug from underneath my whole existence. The foundation dwindled right before my eyes. How can I put it into words so he can understand the damage he has created inside me?

4 ½ Stars

We all face the aging process differently - some graceful, some defiant, and some take it all in stride. In this tale, Danity Lee is having real issues with her maturing body. The reassurance of her husband and level headed talk from a dear friend help to rearrange her mind set. The comedic presentation of the storyline coupled with an original feminine subject makes this talk out loud funny.

Blount takes a serious topic and makes it relatable. The descriptions of how body parts sag, skin loosens and an expanding waistline are hilarious. While the emotional attachment on how society thinks you should look meets reality is rather sad. But doesn't this happen to everyone at some point in time? Thanks Blount for helping us laugh at your character while laughing at ourselves. This is a 'green' (paperless) and economical (less than $3) way to share "how to age gracefully" with a friend.

She’s also an addict of Twitter, so please sign up and “follower” her at Twitter.

The Book

Connections is a romantic comedy that’s perfect for today’s world where love is often found in Cyberspace.

Monday through Friday, for one hour a day, newspaper reporter Christianna Dayne’s life is wonderful. Despite her hectic life, she always manages to spend her lunch hour at Cyber Town where she can catch up with her best friend Samantha, grab a bite to eat, and most importantly, hook up with her cyber boo online. Christianna is definitely feeling LitGuy66, but she’s too afraid to meet him because she doesn’t want reality to come crashing down around her. What Christianna doesn’t know is she’s not in control; fate is, and when fate puts a flesh and blood man before her – a man who just happens to not only be her possible Mr. Wonderful but also her ultimate scoop – Christianna must decide whether to flee or stick around and pursue the endless possibilities.

Connections - as well as Got Til It’s Gone and Under the Mistletoe - are all available at Lady Leo Publishing.

EXCERPT of CONNECTIONS

I smiled at my girl, taking her hands in mine and giving them a squeeze. I glanced at the contrast of our hands—hers being alabaster and mine the color of cinnamon. I chuckled, thinking of how people often looked at our color; raised brows at our loud, usually not politically correct discussions; and refused to see that we were sisters beyond our hues. Since we hooked up and lucked out as roommates our first year of college, Sam and I had been joined at the hip. Not even full-time jobs or the daily grind of life could keep us from staying connected.

“Thanks, Sis,” I said. “I know you’re just worried about my so-called love life. Not all of us can be graced to have a love like you and Jake.”

“True, but you know Jake and I have our problems…”

I gave Sam a serious look, before asking, “So how are things, between you, Jake, Jax, and Jamaica?”

“It’s going,” Sam said, sighing. “Jake and I can do nothing but continue loving each other and watching out for Jax. Jax is so young. I don’t want to hurt her with her mother’s crazy issues. If Jamaica is going to act up, then we’ll just have to deal with it then. She’s been okay since we talked to her, but you never know.”

I nodded. Our conversation was halted as a guy approached the counter. Wow, I thought, he’s cute. I knew Sam was thinking the same thing because she offered me a smirk before helping him.

“What can I do for you?” she asked.

“Uh, yeah,” he said, looking rushed, “can I get a cup of coffee and a turkey Swiss croissant?”

“Sure thing.”

“Ditto on that order, Sam, but make my coffee a caramel latte, please.” She nodded and turned away. I drummed my fingertips along the counter, catching glimpses of the guy out of the corner of my eye.

“Hi,” he said, catching me glancing. I turned toward him, a blush rising in my cheeks.

“Hi,” I replied, embarrassed. Now looking directly at him, I was like Elvis, all shook up.

He was gorgeous, in that artsy kind of way, and his Hispanic heritage just added to his machismo factor. He had the most beautiful pair of brown eyes—after my own—and a nice full mouth. He ran his hand over his slightly spiky brown hair and offered the other to me.

EXCERPT of OFFICE AFFAIRS

I spent a full day at the office with no thoughts of work on my mind. I flipped through the catalogues absent-mindedly. Nothing caught my eye. The only thing on my mind was sex. I needed to get laid in the worst way. LaDonna's advice about Davis was making more sense but I still wasn't sure I was ready for dinner with him. I thought about having coffee with him but to my surprise he hadn't asked me out in weeks. Some times when you snooze, you lose. With LaDonna and Ronald hitting it off so well, she had a better chance of getting laid than I had.

I drove home with my top back, letting the wind massage my tense body. If only I had a man to sit next to in my ride. I could really go for a Splackavellie right about now! I want to be naked in the passenger seat while my man drives me to a secluded area. I want my thick, ample thighs to feel the wind as he hits again and again, and again. That would be all good!

Squeal! I had to come to a screeching halt to avoid hitting the car in front of me. 'Get it together, Allysia.' I tell myself. If I keep thinking about sex, I'll be on the six o'clock news. It's a damn shame that a grown ass woman ain't getting it on the regular!

At home I park my Mercedes coupe in the garage and enter my big, empty house. I smell my dinner for the evening but there's no one to share it with. No man. No children. Even the workers are gone for today. I would invite LaDonna over but even she has a date. She and Ronald are really hitting it off. Even though he likes her as she is, I still owe that chic a makeover. I'm sick of the sailor dresses in every unimaginable color.

I headed up the winding staircase. If only Davis was up in my room waiting for me. The things I could do to that man. If only he would let me get my freak on without any strings attached. I'm not trying to hurt him or get my heart broken while being a puppet in a show called Love.

After a long, cold shower I plopped down on my king size bed. With nothing else to do, I reached for the remote. Wouldn't you know the first channel that popped up was an HBO channel? There was a couple going at it! I turned the channel quickly. Damn cable TV wasn't much better! I turned to the animal channel. I hoped that just maybe the crocodiles wouldn't be mating. Wrong! I turned to the animal channel only to see a species of animals I didn't even know, fucking the hell out of each other. Everybody was getting some except me. Frustrated as hell I turned off the TV and sent the remote sailing across the room.

EXCERPT of Opposites Attract …So Good, So Right

“Wow, what an incredible story. Now, I see why my being a housekeeper doesn't bother you."

It was getting late and neither of us wanted to go, but we needed to get some rest for work the next day, so Quentin took me home and came around to open the car door. Putting his arm around me, he walked me to my apartment. I had such a lovely time that I don't want you to go. We're from two different worlds, but I sure wish we could try, I thought.

Within minutes, Quentin claimed my lips, crushing me to him. I felt my knees weaken as his lips descended upon mine. His tongue traced the fullness of my lips, then explored the inner recesses of my mouth. His lips demanded answers that I wasn't sure I could give. But I did because Quentin's lips demanded a response. I returned his kiss with the same intensity of heat that joins metal. Spirals of ecstasy rippled through my body setting it aflame. Quentin Maxwell had rendered me senseless.

"Would you…like to…come in for…a cup of coffee?" I asked, unable to speak a sensible sentence.

"I had a wonderful tine with you, tonight, Sabrina, and I would welcome the chance to spend more time with you," he said, planting sweet kisses on my neck.

"Yes, I'd love a cup of coffee, thanks."

We drank the java and was working on the second cup, but we never finished it. Quentin drew my lips to his in a renewed embrace, kissing me with a hunger that belied his outward calm. I was shocked at my wanton response to the touch of his lips. At that juncture, no words needed to be said and none were. . .

KARMA new ebook ready for download

Here is my new ebook Karma. Download your copy today for $1.95 from http://www.ladyleopublishing.org/

KARMA-Byata Simpson is self-centered, an all about the bling. She is on the prowl for a man to take care of every material need. Her latest boy-toy, Sean, isn’t making it happen, and is rudely dismissed. But Byata; will learn the hard way that it isn’t all about her, when her self-destructive behavior and wicked motives back fire on her.

Excerpt:

I have that thing; whatever the ingredients is for the IT Factor I have it. Exotic beauty, luxurious locks, a sexy svelte body, 6 feet in heels and a catwalk swagger men notice from a distance. It’s all about me so please keep on stepping if it’s not. I have no time for haters. So here’s my story straight up no chaser.

Unintentionally I struck a pose waiting outside of a mom and pops café. A place I considered raggedy and beneath my standards. I was all about the bling, fancy cars, designer clothes, the lifestyle of the rich and famous but on a smaller scale, AND looking for a man to take care of me. No scrubs allowed! The only reason I came here is because one of my boy toys: Sean, told me he had a gift for me. If it weren’t for that, I wouldn’t have given this place a second look; never mind being seen by someone I knew standing in front of it.

My patience started to shot circuit. I kept glancing at my watch. I cut and rolled my eyes at the people passing by me because they were gawking and I was not in the mood for the attention. I was irritated. Byata waits for no one, so he would hear my mouth as soon as he showed up.

“Hey baby,” said Sean sneaking up behind me.

I swung around,” You’re late!”

“Calm down it’s what two minutes,” Said Sean leaning in for a kiss.

I rudely palmed his face and pushed his head back, “My time is valuable Sean, and you said twelve o’clock.”

“Will you chill out? Don’t put your hands in my face.”

“Don’t tell me what to do,” I said mean grilling him, “I wait for no one.”

“Byata could you please stop creating a scene let’s just go inside,” Pleaded Sean, “People are staring at us.”

“I don’t give a damn about these people. They stare at me all the time.”

“All right, can we just go inside?” he asked holding open the door for me.

“I never told you I was going inside. I told you I would meet you here to get my gift,” I said through clenched teeth. I waited while Sean stared at me. I guess he was lost for words. I could tell I was getting on his nerves but I didn’t care.

Sean sighed, “Byata they really have great food here.”

“I can’t believe you would bring me to a place like this,” I said standing in the doorway blocking customers who kept saying excuse me only to have me peer down on them giving them the evil eye.

Sean continued to apologize for my rudeness as he moved around letting the people inside the café.

I ignored their name calling because to me they were just small-minded people. If they were angry, it’s because they couldn’t get in this raggedy ass place. Most women hated me anyways and if I didn’t talk to a guy he hated on me too. I’ve grown accustomed to their insults and all that other yang, yang.

“Could you come in? If you don’t want anything on the menu we can go somewhere else,” Sean suggested.

“This is the last time you can ever invite me to some little roach diner. I like high class restaurants and I’m not going to tell you again.” I told him still ignoring the remarks from the onlookers who kept telling Sean to kick me to the curb. I followed him to a table at the back. I grabbed some napkins from the napkin holder and wiped off the seat, “This is a five hundred dollar dress,” I said sitting down.
